SEVT will be supplied with approximately 70 GWh of solar power annually, an amount equivalent to the electricity consumption of about 17,000 Vietnamese households.
According to Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO), the use of renewable energy resources is expected to reduce around 46,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
This is the first commercial transaction to be implemented since the DPPA mechanism officially took effect in Vietnam. It demonstrates that global corporations like Samsung Electronics are able to successfully implement renewable energy procurement initiatives.
“Through this inaugural DPPA, we hope to contribute to the growth of Vietnam’s renewable energy market while actively supporting global efforts to address the climate change crisis,” said Na Ki Hong, General Director of Samsung Vietnam.

Last year, 2 other legal entities of Samsung Vietnam including Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) in Bac Ninh and Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC) in Ho Chi Minh city also stimulated use of renewable energy by implementing on-site rooftop solar power projects.
Currently, SEV in Bac Ninh and SEHC in Ho Chi Minh city are striving to increase DPPA power supply resources.
